Company Overview:
From its headquarters and main factory based in Southern Germany, WERMA has been selling its range of optical and audible signal devices in the UK for over 10 years. The company is unique amongst its peers in being able to offer such a wide range of signal devices offering both optical and audible characteristics.
WERMA has been manufacturing signal devices since 1957, and is now considered to be the second largest manufacturer in the world. The company employs approximately 200 people worldwide and since 2005 has been expanding activities with the opening of a manufacturing and sales office in Shanghai and sales companies in Switzerland and UK. In addition distributors and agents represent the company in over 40 other countries
The products are manufactured to strictly controlled quality standards (DIN EN ISO 9001:2000) and meet many internationally recognised industry standards.
In May of this year WERMA opened its own subsidiary company in Kettering. The objective of the local company is to “get close to the customer”. A key element of the success story of WERMA is innovation. Each year the company showcases new products being introduced at leading Industrial exhibitions. The number of new products introduced each year can be anything between 10 and 15, and a great number of these are true innovations and not just extensions to the existing range.
Product Overview
The range encompasses
Signal Towers
Optical Signal Devices
Optical-Audible Signal Devices
Audible signal Devices
Ex-Proof Signal Devices
In 1994 the world’s first range of “modular” devices was launched, KombiSIGN. The modular design allows absolute ease of installation, offering a wide range of fixing options – base mount, side mount, bracket, base with tube for elevated installation and magnetic base.
Installation could not be easier thanks to the cage clamp technology employed in the base unit. A spring loaded clamp is opened by a screwdriver allowing the wire to be inserted. Units are sealed to IP65
The modular design means that the various lighting and acoustic elements can be easily assembled with the bayonet connection requiring a simple twist of the hand.
LED technology offers a wide range of light output possibilities – permanent/flash/blink and extended life combined with low current consumption.
Other innovative options introduced recently include a GSM element for texting messages from tower to a mobile to signal an alarm and a siren element which automatically adjusts its output volume to 5db above the ambient noise level. AS interface elements and a USB connector element are also available.
Optical Signal Devices/ Beacons
Large range of beacons available in 5 colours in sizes from 3mm to 150mm diameter. Permanent/flash/blink available in either standard or LED lights.
Such is the extent of the range that you may find the smallest beacon on a machine control panel to the largest, known as a hazard obstruction beacon which would be used on elevated structures at e.g. airports.
Another very popular type of beacon is the “Traffic Light” often found in warehouses/weighbridges. Previously only available with standard incandescent bulbs, LED versions are now available, which most importantly can be retrofitted to an existing light.
Optical-Audible Signal Devices
A range of beacons are integrated with buzzers, horns or sounders thus offering a wide of visual/audible outputs. Many of these units employ LED technology and are sealed to IP65.
Multi tone sounders are available in certain combinations.
A recent innovation is the LED buzzer combination consisting of an LED permanent light with additional continuous tone. An operator is obliged to acknowledge the audible signal by pressing the buzzer whilst the LED continues to be lit until the fault has been resolved.
Audible Signal Devices
Multi tone sounders, Horns, Gongs, Alarm Bells and Buzzers form the basis for this part of the range.
Sound output start at 65db up to 120db.
Many units are sealed to IP65.
The range of the output sound is variable as it depends mainly upon the ambient noise level surrounding the application.
A new innovation is a “vocal element” module used with signal tower range. Employing MP3 recording technology the user can download onto the unit the music or message of his choice which is the then automatically triggered when the signal tower goes into fault mode. The module is connected to the recording source with a USB cable.
Ex-Proof Signal Devices
Signal Towers, Beacons, Horns and sounders are all available as a range of Ex-Proof Devices.
The devices are approved for applications in both Zone One and Two areas, which covers both gas and dusts such as may be found in mining and mills, or explosion sensitive areas such as the petrochem industry.
Compliant to the latest ATEX directives, these units also employ LED technology and offer a wide range of light and sound output. Flexible mounting options and accessories such as wire cages for beacon domes complete an extensive range of products.
