With nearly 70 years dedicated to the field of torque tools and torque measurement, it was natural that Norbar should apply their expertise to the demanding applications within the oil and gas industry. For many years, Norbar’s HT5 torque multiplier has been an integral part of API 17D Class 4 intervention torque tools but the range has recently been extended with the addition of an innovative Class 4 to Class 7 adaptor gearbox. Norbar has also pioneered the use of light weight materials in their torque multipliers, reducing weight by up to 40%, bringing high capacity torque tools within a range that can be manipulated by ROVs. In addition, Norbar has developed a ‘Harsh Environment’ measuring instrument and a range of torque transducers, all IP65/67 rated to EN 60529:1992. Transducers are manufactured from stainless steel and have capacities up to 100,000 N.m making them ideal for sub sea and ‘top side’ verification of torque tools and many other applications in environments hostile to sensitive electronics. |
